Rules - Governing Matches

RULES GOVERNING MATCHES

1. Notwithstanding any of the after going rules of any water being fished which is not the Society’s water will supersede the Society’s rules.

2. The Match Secretary shall appoint two(2) stewards before the draw for each match.

3. The Match Secretary and both Stewards must witness and verify the ” weigh-in “ for each competitor.

4. More than one(1) rod may be assembled but only one(1) to be used at any one time.

5. One(1) or two(2) hooks permissible

6. Live-baiting, spinning or fly-fishing is not permitted.

7. Catapults and throwing sticks are permitted.

8. On match days, pleasure fishing must cease two(2) hours prior to the match draw time.

9. The Match Secretary or a nominated Steward(s) will be responsible for pegging, the draw, control throughout, weighing, presentation of pools monies and overall supervision.

10. Stewards’ decision on any matter is final.

11. All fish caught are to be treated carefully and retained in a keep-net until the “weigh-in” when, after weighing, they must be returned.Trout must not be weighed and must be returned to the water immediately.

12. Competitors must remain within one(1) yard either side of his peg marker.

13. The waters surface must not be broken except for the positioning of bank sticks, platforms, keep-nets and plumbing-up, before the ” ALL-IN “.

14. Throughout the match, those competing will not leave their peg other than for the wants of nature.

15. All competitors must be in possession of a keep-net.

16. All fish to be weighed except pike, game fish, crustaceans and stickle-backs.

17. Disqualified competitors must leave the venue immediately.Non-participating Members may stay during the match provided they are quiet, unobtrusive and that there are no objections from competitors at any stage during the match.

18. Anyone found to be in breach of the rules, or of ungentlemanly conduct, will be dealt with by the Stewards with a report made to the Committee.

19. No complaints will be heard after official decisions.

20. All pegs will be cleared of litter before a competitor leaves the venue.

21. There will be no foul language (even when ‘that fish’ gets away ).

22. The Match Secretary has the authority to invite non-members on Society trips when places are vacant.

23. Deposits for trips are to be fixed at the discretion of the Match Secretary.Anyone paying the deposit and not attending, shall be liable to pay the full amount unless a satisfactory reason is submitted to the Committee.

24. Juniors attending trips must report to a senior before leaving their peg for any reason.

25. Members not turning up on time shall have no say should the venue be changed on that date only.

26. All matches not on the Official Match List must have FULL Committee approval one month before the said match takes place
